Who is it for?

Anyone in the community who has completed the Evacuation Centre Training course. The next scheduled Evacuation Centre Training course is Friday 1st March.

What is covered?

The aim of the training is to give participants an understanding of the principles of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and how and when to provide PFA.

The training

Psychological first aid (PFA) can be delivered at the scene of an emergency or at places where affected people gather. It is an approach to helping people affected by an emergency, disaster or traumatic event, which aims to reduce initial distress, meet current needs, promote flexible coping and encourage adjustment. PFA is useful as the first thing that you might do with individuals or families following a disaster.

This Red Cross training is a key skill for anyone who has completed the Evacuation Centre Training course.
