Parks and Open Spaces

Southern Downs has a range of beautiful parks that provide recreational, visual, environmental, rural lifestyle, and other open space values that make the Southern Downs a great place to live, work, play and stay. Southern Downs Regional Council (Council) cares for and manages more than 100 hectares of parks and over 250 green open spaces for both residents and visitors to freely enjoy. A number of these are fitted with recreational facilities, playgrounds, walking tracks, BBQs and picnic shelters that appeal to the leisure needs of all ages.

In the majority of instances, no bookings are required for use of Council parks and reserves. You can hold events such as BBQs, private social and family gatherings, birthday parties, and informal group exercise without needing to book a park. Park bookings do not cover specific open space areas, nor do they include infrastructure such as BBQs, picnic shelters, gazebos fitness equipment or playgrounds. These are publicly shared recreation areas for all to appreciate and cannot be reserved.
