WIRAC Pool Refurbishment
Southern Downs Regional Council is investing in the future of the Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) with a refurbishment of the main indoor pool, improving water quality and delivering essential building upgrades.
These works are part of a broader refurbishment program for WIRAC, ensuring the centre can continue providing reliable, high-quality aquatic services for many years to come.
When will the closure happen?
Pool closure starts: 30 March 2026
Pool reopens: 1 June 2026
What facilities will be closed?
Only the main indoor pool will be unavailable during the closure period.
What facilities will stay open?
All other areas of WIRAC will continue operating as normal, including:
- Hydrotherapy pool
- Gym
- Courts
- Wellness room
- Group fitness room
What upgrades will occur?
During the closure period, Council and its suppliers will deliver the following upgrades:
- Filtration replacement in main indoor pools
- Pool safety audit rectification, including tiling, grouting, slip resistance and pool interior repairs
- Minor cosmetic upgrade to main bathroom in pool area
- Detailed investigation for future refurbishment works
Why are the works needed?
The refurbishment is required to address ageing infrastructure, improve safety and compliance, and reduce long-term maintenance risks.
Completing these upgrades now helps ensure WIRAC remains a safe, reliable and welcoming facility for residents, schools, clubs and visitors into the future.
