All About Rates and Charges

Council issues a number of rate notices each year depending on what services are provided to your property

All About Rates and Charges

Rates are a contribution each ratepayer makes towards the cost of providing and maintaining services, facilities and infrastructure across the Southern Downs.

Why do we need rates - What do they pay for?

Your rates help Council deliver and maintain the infrastructure, services and facilities our community relies on, including roads, parks and gardens, libraries, swimming pools, community facilities, waste services and more.

Water and other charges

Your Rate Notice may include charges for services such as water, sewerage and waste.

These charges are separate from general rates and are generally based on the services available to your property or your use of those services.
