Southern Downs residents now have the opportunity to take part in Australia’s first solar panel recycling pilot program.
The Smart Energy Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, has launched a new initiative to explore the safe collection, reuse and recycling of solar panels from households and solar farms. The program will help shape future policies for a nationwide recycling solution.
How to participate
Residents can drop off their unwanted solar panels at either the Warwick Waste Facility or the Stanthorpe Waste Facility, by booking an appointment online.

Residents must book online before disposing of panels.

Acceptance criteria
- A maximum of 30 panels per resident per booking
- Panels containing Cadmium (e.g. Telluride) will not be accepted
