With just over a week to go, the motorcycle racing spotlight is set to fall squarely on the Southern Downs and the multi-purpose Morgan Park motorsport precinct when it hosts round four of the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli from May 29–31, 2026 – an event proudly supported by Southern Downs Regional Council.
Morgan Park Raceway has become a mainstay on the ASBK calendar, and this month's fourth round promises to be no exception. The tight and twisty nature of the 12-turn, 2.96km layout always produces sensational racing, and race winners rarely prevail without some serious heat.
The event will be televised to an international live audience via SBS Sport and Stan Sport Australia, Sky Sports NZ, Eurosport and other international broadcasters, showcasing the Southern Downs to viewers around the globe.
And the on-track fireworks are only half the story. Off the track, fans can expect a full-throttle weekend of entertainment, featuring TJay Stuntz – Australia's most exhilarating stunt rider throwing down a freestyle show that has to be seen to be believed – plus the Penrite Big Screen for live timing and coverage and photo finish. The ASBK Trade Alley Fan Zone on top of the hill provides the best vantage point on the circuit, and will be packed with industry vendors, food and more.
With Council's support, the event is set to deliver a thrilling spectacle. Local accommodation providers are already filling fast as fans and teams flock to the region from across the nation.
Southern Downs and Granite Belt is Queensland's premier wine destination, with more than 40 cellar doors. The region is a foodie's paradise, with seasonal produce available from the paddock to the pantry and the plate.
Activities for the whole family, including the Downs Explorer steam train, offer plenty of opportunities to see what the Southern Downs region has to offer.
Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said about the event: "Morgan Park Raceway is a circuit that truly highlights skill of our riders as they battle for position through its corners. We are thrilled that the Southern Downs Regional Council is fully behind round four of the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli. Its support is invaluable in delivering a thrilling and professionally run event."
Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Melissa Hamilton expressed her excitement: “Round four of the Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli is a major highlight on our events calendar and a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Southern Downs to a national and international audience. With world class racing broadcast globally, this event delivers significant economic benefits for our region while reinforcing Morgan Park’s reputation as a premier motorsport destination. The circuit’s tight and technical circuit produces exhilarating racing, and the atmosphere it creates flows right through our towns and villages. Beyond the excitement on the track, we look forward to welcoming visitors to experience our country hospitality, local food and wine, charming towns and beautiful landscapes. It’s an event that energises our community and leaves a lasting impression on everyone who visits.”
