The Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) aquatic hall will reopen to the community on Monday 17 August 2026, with swimmers and aquatic activities returning to the refreshed facility following the completion of its major refurbishment.
Southern Downs Regional Council welcomes the announcement following the upgrades, which successfully delivered important improvements to the facility and aquatic infrastructure for the benefit of the community and visitors for years to come.
The project included modern fixtures and finishes throughout the aquatic hall, along with an upgraded filtration system designed to provide more efficient and effective water treatment and improve water quality across the various pools and wet play areas.
Council has continued working closely with the YMCA to support the return of aquatic services and is pleased to see the community once again able to enjoy the facility.
Southern Downs Mayor, Melissa Hamilton, said it would be great to see WIRAC’s aquatic facilities back in use.
“WIRAC is an important part of community life in Warwick, and we know how much the community has been looking forward to getting back in the water,” Mayor Hamilton said.
“The refurbishment has delivered a refreshed facility and important upgrades to the aquatic infrastructure, helping ensure WIRAC can continue to serve our community well into the future.
“It is fantastic to see the aquatic hall back in action and to know the community can once again enjoy this much-loved facility.”
For information about current opening hours, memberships, programs and aquatic services, community members should contact the YMCA directly.
