Southern Downs Regional Council is inviting residents to help shape the region’s future, with community engagement opening on the draft 2026–2031 Corporate Plan and the draft 2026/27 Budget for two weeks from Monday 20 April to Friday 1 May 2026.

Mayor Melissa Hamilton said the draft Corporate Plan has been informed by extensive community feedback received in late 2025 and early 2026.

“Residents told us that the Southern Downs is a great place to live and raise a family, and shared their priorities for how they want to see the region grow into the future,” Mayor Hamilton said.

“We have listened, and that feedback is shaping our new Corporate Plan, which sets out Council’s key priorities, goals and strategic direction over the next five years.”

The Corporate Plan guides future investment, service delivery and key priorities across the region.

Council is now seeking further community input to ensure the draft plan’s themes and commitments align with the aspirations of the Southern Downs community. Submissions are also open on Council’s draft 2026/27 Budget.

There are a number of ways for residents to get involved, including completing an online survey, making a written submission or attending a community information pop-up session to speak directly with Councillors and Council staff.

Community information pop-up sessions will be held across the region in Stanthorpe, Warwick, Leyburn, Yangan, Killarney and Allora.

Stanthorpe: Thursday 23 April 9AM to 12PM Farley Street Piazza, Maryland Street, Stanthorpe
Warwick: Thursday 23 April 3PM to 6PM Rose City Shopping World, 81 Palmerin Street, Warwick
Leyburn: Monday 27 April 9AM to 12PM Leyburn Tennis Courts, MacIntyre Street, Leyburn

Mayor Hamilton encouraged all residents to take part.
