Southern Downs Regional Council is rolling out the canvas for another vibrant year of artistic innovation, announcing the opening of the 2025/26 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant program from Monday 1 September 2025.
With a total funding pool of $115,809 co-funded by the Queensland Government, this year’s program is set to support a wide range of creative projects from public art installations and cultural workshops to heritage storytelling and professional development for local artists.
Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the RADF has an impressive track record of supporting local arts and cultural programs across Queensland communities.
“The Crisafulli Government’s multi-year RADF investment provides greater funding certainty for 59 regional councils, streamlined program management and red tape reduction, while boosting the state’s vibrant arts and cultural scene,” Minister Langbroek said.
“Each year, RADF programs reach more than one million people across Queensland, securing local arts experiences and cultural tourism opportunities in regional areas, as well as supporting local artists in the lead up to Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“For 34 years, Arts Queensland has partnered with regional councils to co-invest in local arts initiatives that generate jobs, community engagement and help boost local economies. The Crisafulli Government will continue to support these vital collaborations.”
Council’s spokesperson for Inspired Communities Cr Morwenna Harslett said the RADF program is a celebration of local imagination and a chance to bring bold ideas to life.
“The Regional Arts Development Fund is about investing in our people, our stories and our creativity,” Cr Harslett said.
“It ensures that local artists and community groups have the support they need to bring ideas to life here in our own region.
“RADF gives our community access to high-quality arts and cultural experiences without having to travel to the city—it brings the arts home to us and strengthens our local identity.
“We’ve seen everything from striking street art to hands-on workshops. RADF is a launchpad for local talent, and we can’t wait to see what this year’s applicants will create.”
