Southern Downs Regional Council has adopted the 2024-25 Annual Report at its the Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 19 November 2025.

Southern Downs Mayor Melissa Hamilton said the report demonstrates how Council is delivering practical results that improve everyday life while planning responsibly for the future.

“This report shows Council’s focus on delivering great liveability and maximising the advantages of this wonderful region to build a strong, diverse economy for the future,” Mayor Hamilton said.

“The 2024-25 Annual Report explains the work Council does by bringing together a year’s worth of planning, decisions and community outcomes in a clear and accessible way.

“It highlights the positive practical results that Council is achieving for ratepayers through partnerships, grant funding and community projects, and gives residents a genuine understanding of how Council invests in essential services, infrastructure and the future growth of the Southern Downs.

“But we have invested in projects that matter to everyday life – from upgrades to water treatment plants, flood mitigation works, playgrounds and pathways.”

Mayor Hamilton also paid tribute to Council staff for their dedication and service.

“None of this would be possible without our incredible staff, and I thank all of you for your passion and dedication. You are the smiling faces that deliver essential services and support our community through good times and bad,” Mayor Hamilton added.“I also thank everyone who lives and works here in the Southern Downs. Your passion for this region, the positive engagement we’ve had with you this year for the budget and draft planning scheme, and most of all your strong community spirit are what make the Southern Downs such a special place.

“Looking ahead, there is such a bright future for the Southern Downs and I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
