Aspiring writers and storytellers are invited to dive into the art of creative non-fiction writing with acclaimed author and leading educator Graeme Gibson at the Stanthorpe Library’s free life writing workshop on Tuesday 27 May 2025.
This interactive, hands-on session will empower participants with the skills to transform real-life experiences into captivating narratives.
From memoirs and family history, to personal essays, travel diaries, local history and feature writing, Graeme’s workshop offers techniques to bring real stories to life with confidence and creativity.
Southern Downs Councillor Morwenna Harslett said the workshop was a wonderful opportunity for locals to explore the power of personal storytelling.
“Everyone has a story worth telling, and this workshop is a fantastic way to give people the tools and confidence to start sharing those stories,” Councillor Harslett said.
“Whether you’re looking to preserve family memories or simply want to explore creative writing, this session will offer invaluable insights from an experienced mentor.”
Through a series of guided exercises and group discussions, participants will learn practical strategies to overcome the biggest hurdle—getting started. They’ll also explore techniques to find their unique voice, engage readers from the first line and use sensory language to craft vivid, memorable prose.
At the heart of the workshop is the essential storytelling principle: show, don’t tell.
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s most engaging writing mentors. Secure your spot and take the first step towards crafting powerful, real-life stories.
