Each July, Warwick comes alive with yarnbombed trees, smooth jazz and a community spirit that makes Jumpers and Jazz in July a signature event on the Southern Downs calendar.
Following last year’s platinum anniversary celebrations, the festival continues to grow in popularity, with the iconic Yarnbombed Tree Exhibition still basking in the glow of its 2023 win as Best Small Town Festival or Event at the Australian Street Art Awards.
Southern Downs Mayor Melissa Hamilton congratulated the event organisers on another stellar program and encouraged visitors to head to the Southern Downs for the last big weekend of the 10-day festival.
“Every year the JJJ committee, community organisations and an army of volunteers deliver a packed program that draws visitors from across the country and entrants from around the world. It is a huge drawcard for the region, and I’d like to thank all of them for their hard work,” Mayor Hamilton said.
A wet weather forecast has forced a few necessary venue changes on Saturday 26 July however, organisers have assured festival goers that activities have been moved to venues that are warm, dry, and bursting with the same incredible atmosphere they’ve come to love.
Council has worked closely with the organisers to relocate Sunday’s markets and jazz performances away from the wet grounds at Leslie Park to the Council car park and Warwick Town Hall.
Council spokesperson for Vibrant Communities Cr Joel Richters highlighted the vital role regional events play in shaping the region’s future.
“Regional events like Jumpers and Jazz in July play a vital role in strengthening the Southern Downs’ identity, economy and community spirit,” Cr Richters said.
“In 2024, the 10-day Jumpers and Jazz in July festival delivered a remarkable $8.35 million in gross economic stimulus to the Southern Downs region, attracting more than 65,000 attendees across 135 events in nine communities, and generating nearly $4 million in overnight visitor expenditure.
