The hydrotherapy pool at the Warwick Indoor and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) will be temporarily closed to the public from Monday 20 May 2024 for important upgrades to the air handling system.
Funded by the Queensland Government’s 2021-24 Works for Queensland Program, the project will modernise the centre with industry leading technology.
C has overseen management operations at WIRAC since 2017 and a spokesperson from the organisation welcomed the latest upgrades to align services with community needs.
“YMCA Queensland is delighted to have the support of Council and the Queensland Government in upgrading the air handling system for the hydrotherapy pool,” the spokesperson said.
“This investment not only enhances the users’ experience, but also underscores the significant value the hydrotherapy pool holds for our community.
“As a vital resource for rehabilitation, therapy and overall well-being, the hydrotherapy pool plays an essential role in promoting health and mobility for individuals of all ages and abilities.
“We are grateful for this partnership and eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on the health and quality of life of our community members.”
Southern Downs Mayor Melissa Hamilton said the upgrades supported Council’s commitment providing improved facilities that contribute to community health and well-being.
“Council is committed to providing the best facilities for our community and upgrading the air handling system is crucial for maintaining a clean and healthy environment,” Mayor Hamilton said.
“During the closure, we thank the community for its understanding and patience as works are completed to enhance the centre and provide an even better experience for valued patrons once the hydrotherapy pool reopens.”
Minister for Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works Meaghan Scanlon said the Miles Government was proud to be investing in important projects like the upgrade at WIRAC through its Works for Queensland Program.
“Investing in the modernisation of the hydrotherapy pool at the centre will bring a great benefit to the community and the users of the hydrotherapy pool,” Minister Scanlon said.
“Our Works for Queensland program is delivering local projects that create jobs, deliver better infrastructure and services, and improve the lives of regional Queenslanders now and into the future.”
The project is expected to be completed towards the end of September 2024.
The WIRAC upgrades project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s 2021-24 Works for Queensland Program in association with Council.
