Do you have a creative idea that needs a funding boost to make it a reality? Applications for the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) are now open with $80,975 available to support artistic projects that enhance arts and culture across our region.

The Queensland Government and the Southern Downs Regional Council invite individual artists and community groups to submit applications for this latest round of funding before 31 July 2024.

Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Queensland Government’s successful, long-term partnership with local governments through RADF supports the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences, employment opportunities and capacity building for arts and cultural workers across the state.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen local communities and drive economic outcomes through arts and culture, the Queensland Government has provided $2.184 million for RADF 2023-24 to 59 local councils who have contributed a co-investment of $1.979 million,” Minister Enoch said.

“The Queensland Government’s Creative Together 2020-2030 roadmap prioritises activation of Queensland’s places and spaces and arts engagement that drives positive change for Queensland communities. Projects funded through RADF support communities to share stories and creativity, provide important pathways for learning and connection, and boost local creative economies and tourism.”

Southern Downs Councillor Marco Gliori said RADF projects make valued contributions to the region’s diverse and thriving arts scene.

“Arts and culture greatly contribute to the vibrancy and liveability of our region,” Councillor Gliori said.

“Southern Downs is well regarded as a must-visit destination for unique cultural experiences, and our local arts scene grows more vibrant each year, thanks in part to RADF grants.

“Many exciting projects have been brought to life through this funding to enhance the artistic and cultural fabric of our community.

“From street art, workshops, heritage projects and festival performers, previous RADF funding has delivered inspiring and creative projects that showcase the special talent that the Southern Downs is renowned for.

“I strongly encourage emerging and established artists to review the program’s guidelines and consider how they might utilise these funds to bring a creative endeavour to life.”

The 2023/24 RADF program is funded with $41,475 from the Queensland Government, together with $39,500 from Council.

Applications close midnight 31 July 2024, and projects must not start before 1 December 2023 and must be completed by 31 December 2024.

Application forms and guidelines are available on Council’s website at https://www.sdrc.qld.gov.au/doing-business/grants-to-community-radf/radf/radf.
