Queensland Ballet has taken its place as a vibrant and compelling contributor to Australia’s cultural landscape and an integral part of the national and international ballet ecology.

Following their hugely successful tour in 2022, Southern Downs Regional Council is once again collaborating with Queensland Ballet to host community classes and share the physical, social and emotional benefits of dance.

Australia’s best ballet teachers will grace the region on Wednesday 29 March at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre to offer aspiring local dancers the opportunity to experience the magic of dance from the industry’s finest.

Southern Downs Councillor Sheryl Windle is excited to welcome Queensland Ballet back to the region and said the workshops are an incredible opportunity for the local community to learn from highly trained dance professionals.

“It’s not every day that our budding dancers have an audience with world-renowned ballet teachers,” Councillor Windle said.

“Queensland Ballet offers an inclusion dance experience and they do an exceptional job of making dance more accessible and engaging for regional communities.

“The workshops have been enthusiastically attended in the past and I’m sure our promising dancers will again leap at the opportunity to learn tips and tricks from Queensland Ballet’s acclaimed teachers.”

A Queensland Ballet spokesperson said no dance experience is necessary and she invited the local community to sign up and explore the wonderful world of ballet.

“Queensland Ballet is excited to hit the road again to spread the magic of ballet with people of all ages and abilities as part of our 2023 Community Regional Tour,” the spokesperson said.

“In 2023, Queensland Ballet’s expert teaching artists will visit over 30 locations across regional Queensland and New South Wales to deliver community classes, in-school workshops and teacher development sessions.”
