Do you have unwanted or expired agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals that need to be disposed of safely? Register with Agsafe ChemClear before 31 August 2023 for safe and compliant collection during October and November 2023.

Eligibility for this service is based on two categories:
• Group 1 chemicals are drumMuster products with legible labels in original containers, not mixed with other products and within two years of expiry or deregistration. These are collected free of charge.
• Group 2 chemicals are those that have expired and are not part of the drumMuster program. Collection of these chemicals may incur a fee.

Southern Downs Regional Council Director Planning and Environmental Services Scott Riley urged AgVet chemical users to take advantage of the offer and register before the closing date.

“The safe and compliant disposal of chemicals through ChemClear prevents hazardous materials being disposed of incorrectly and potentially causing harm to the environment,” Mr Riley said.

“ChemClear is a fantastic service that occurs intermittently in Queensland, so AgVet chemical users should take the opportunity to use the service while it’s on offer in the region.”

All successful registrants will be contacted by ChemClear via email or post, and storage stickers with reference numbers for the registered containers will be posted within one month of registration. These stickers will aid safe storage and identify the chemicals as registered for disposal.

When a collection is scheduled in the Southern Downs, ChemClear will contact registrants to advise the date, time and collection point for delivery of the chemicals. If you have registered for Group 2 classified chemicals, a quotation will be provided on a per litre/kilogram basis for the collection and disposal.

Registered chemicals will need to be safely and securely stored until delivery to the collection point.
