What is your favourite Christmas carol? Silent night, O Come all ye Faithfull, O Little Town of Bethlehem? With an impressive line-up of local entertainers secured for this year’s Christmas Carols in Stanthorpe and Warwick, all your favourites will most likely be on the song sheet!

Signalling the start of the holiday season, these popular community events will return to the region in 2022 to offer free family-friendly festive fun.

Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi said this year’s Christmas Carols will celebrate country values and encouraged the community to bring a rug and pack a picnic basket to settle in to the relaxed and jolly atmosphere.

“Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and a magical time for families to connect and unite,” Mayor Pennisi said.

“Families come in all shapes and sizes and this year the carols events will be all about celebrating those connections we have made over the past few challenging years.

“Full of community pride, the 2022 events will celebrate the beautiful simplicity of classic family carols featuring local talent to delight and entertain the audience.

“I encourage everyone to stock up their picnic baskets from their local deli or come along and support the community food trucks that will be attending.

“I look forward to ticking off our favourite classic, traditional and modern Christmas songs on our song sheets while enjoying the summer evening atmosphere together as a community.

“As busy as the jolly man in red is at this time of year overseeing the elves and packing his sleigh, Santa will again make time for the families on the Southern Downs and drop in with some special Christmas cheer.

“So pack a picnic, bundle up family and friends and spread out a rug for a classic Carols in the Park event.”
