Stanthorpe kicks on with exciting community celebration

26 October 2021

Hot on the heels of The Granite Belt Beats, Bites and Bounce event on 6 November, the local Southern Downs community is set to be treated to yet another exciting, free family-friendly celebration at Weeroona Park.

Presented by Southern Downs Regional Council, the Commonwealth-funded Kick On Stanthorpe event on Saturday 20 November 2021 promises to impress and entertain. Leading the live music line-up are stellar entertainers and local musicians Mitch King and Cole Train, supported by a jam-packed program of music, street-food vendors and a show-stopping light and fireworks spectacular.

With the festivities kicking on from 4pm until late, Kick On Stanthorpe will not only feature a smorgasbord of activities aimed to delight and enthral the crowds but will also showcase the Granite Belt’s award-wining wines and craft beer.

Southern Downs Councillor Marco Gliori said events like this are ever-important in uniting and connecting our recovering communities.

“The Granite Belt is home to a proud and resilient community and Kick On Stanthorpe is a terrific and timely opportunity for the region to celebrate and reflect on the community’s recovery from drought, bushfire and the effects of lockdown on our border communities,” Councillor Gliori said.

Kick On Stanthorpe is the perfect time for locals in other towns to head north for a daytrip or to invite family and friends to experience the Southern Downs. The weather is great at the moment and the region is ready to welcome back visitors.

“Offering an evening with all the local trimmings, Council hopes that this event will bring new rigger to the Stanthorpe community which has demonstrated its continued determination to rise against unpredictable adversity.

“It’s also important for the entire Southern Downs community to recognise that through unity, we have overcome adversity and to celebrate the success of this journey – and why not do it alongside great food and wine!

“Let’s get together and acknowledge how strong and cohesive our community is.”
