Emergency Services Day Winners and Grinners

02 August 2021

Council’s Disaster Management Team recently partnered with local Emergency Services in Warwick to hold an Emergency Services Pop-Up event at the Jumpers and Jazz in July festival, which coincided with the record-breaking Jazzercise class held on 17th July.

Queensland Police, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Australian Defence Forces, and Southern Downs Regional Council presented their very best and brightest emergency services heroes alongside an impressive display of the latest equipment.

The day was filled with fun, spandex, and most importantly – prizes! Young attendees were given a passport and were challenged to collect a sticker from each Emergency Services department represented and once the passport was filled, it went into the draw to win a prize.

There were 8 prizes up for grabs, each as impressive as the last. Southern Downs Regional Council offered 5 “Zombie Apocalypse” kits – complete with leather gloves, an electric lantern, radio, torch, portable power bank, water bottle, USB, disaster preparedness guide, first aid kit and more!

Warwick State Emergency Service provided 2 preparedness kits which included a comprehensive first aid kit, a waterproof travel box, a game, leather gloves, a torch and batteries.

LifeFlight donated a beautiful prize pack which included a LifeFlight Bear dressed to impress in a snappy uniform, some beautiful stationery and a LifeFlight lapel pin.

There were over 75 entries and the eight lucky winners were:
