Household hazardous chemicals can be highly flammable, corrosive or explosive and should never be thrown into just any bin or mixed with other waste at a waste facility.
Clean out your shed, kitchen or laundry and bring your chemicals to these drop-off days where they will be disposed of in a safe and compliant manner by Council’s waste partner, Cleanaway.
WHAT CAN I BRING?
You can bring household quantities (up to 20L or 20kg of a single item) of:
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Poisons
- Pool and hobby chemicals
- Motor fuels
- Acids and alkalis
- Cooking oils
WHAT CAN'T I BRING?
- Chemicals in unlabelled or damaged containers
- Flares
- Paint (this can be disposed of with the Paintback program)
- Farming-related and commercial quantities of chemicals (note: these can be disposed of with the ChemClear program)
