Southern Downs Regional Council is optimistic that a new certified agreement that delivers a fair, supportive and future-focused working conditions for its employees is progressing following a series of constructive and respectful negotiations.
The proposed agreement, reached in collaboration with the Australian Workers’ Union (AWU), Transport Workers’ Union (TWU), Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU) with Council’s Chief Executive Officer and management representative, was presented to union members on Wednesday 17 September.
Council’s Chief Executive Officer Rachel Brophy said that Council had always remained positive that a balanced agreement would be reached through informed engagement.
“We are pleased of the positive steps we have all taken together to address key issues raised during the negotiation process,” Ms Brophy said.
“The proposed agreement ensures stability and certainty for our employees and reaffirms our joint dedication to supporting the wellbeing and retention of our people.
“The new enterprise agreement will strengthen Southern Downs Regional Council as an employer of choice and will make it a more attractive place to work, now and into the future.
Council extends its thanks to all union representatives and employees who participated in the process with integrity and goodwill.
