Christmas on the Southern Downs is always true to the region’s resilient bush heritage. This year, Southern Downs Regional Council promises to celebrate our country charm with a festive line-up of free community events that family and friends will remember for years to come.
Nothing says Christmas like Carols in the Park, and Leslie Park and Weeroona Park will again be transformed into Christmas wonderlands as local entertainers jingle their way through all the Christmas classics.
Santa’s little helpers have also been extra been busy and this year’s calendar includes Santa’s Storytime and a free Christmas movie screening in the parks of Elf.
Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi said it was time to spread the Christmas cheer and invited the community to join him to celebrate Christmas on the Southern Downs.
“There is plenty to see and do on the Southern Downs this Christmas season and Council invites the community to create new Christmas memories and embrace the enchanting magic of the festive season this year,” Mayor Vic Pennisi said.
“The true magic of Christmas lies in connecting with family and friends and we are delighted to again offer good traditional Christmas fair with a sprinkle of Southern Downs country charm.
“Whether you’re young or old, there is something for everyone on our Christmas calendar. The Carols in the Park are always an unforgettable family favourite and it’s great to see the addition of Santa’s Storytime and movies in the park to the festive program.”
