Improving the region’s roads remains a steady fast commitment for the Southern Downs Regional Council and works to rehabilitate and strengthen Jack Smith Gully Road at Swan Creek will begin on Monday 28 September 2020.
As well as directly benefiting local residents and visitors, the upgrade will also support the agricultural and mining sector, as the road provides an important connection from the Warwick Yangan Road to the Cunningham Highway for heavy vehicles.
Work is expected to be completed within 10 weeks however the start and completion dates are weather dependant and subject to change.
A Council spokesperson said that speed and STOP/GO restrictions on site would cause minor delays for road users during construction.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for working with us while we rehabilitate the road for the safety of all road users. Our staff will help make sure local residents in the area still have access to and from their properties,” the spokesperson said.
“Hours of operation for the road works are from 6.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday and we thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation.”
This rehabilitation project is partially funded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme.
