Council to consider bushfire funding projects

10 January 2020

The Southern Downs Regional Council will convene at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 14 January to consider submissions for the recently announced $1M bushfire relief funding from the Federal Government.

At the meeting Council will review and consider recovery and resilience projects before consulting with the Federal Government.

The Federal Government yesterday committed ‘untied’ funding to 42 local governments affected by bushfire since August 2019.

Council thanked the Federal Government for the generous relief funding and praised the investment in a strong and unique region.

The funding commitment comes after an early start to an unprecedented and catastrophic bushfire season.

Members of the public are reminded that they are welcome to attend Special Council Meetings. Tuesday’s meeting will be held at the Warwick Council Chambers from 9am
