PSPA Revoked

PSPA Revoked

16 February 2020

Today at 5:00pm the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) declaration put in place after the owners of the Bolzan Quarry Dam notified emergency services of a dam wall failure was revoked.

Engineering information has been reviewed and the risk to all but one residence has lowered. The residents that have been identified as still at risk will not be able to return to their home this evening, however all other evacuees may return.

Evacuees who have not received contact from Southern Downs Regional Council or QPS are asked to please contact Council on 1300 697 372 before returning to their property.

Residents and those travelling through the affected areas are reminded not to cross road closure signs as there may still be a sudden influx of water over the roads which will present significant danger.

You can check road closures at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au. If you are unsure about a road closure, please contact Council on 1300 697 372.

Evacuees are commended for the swift action they took when notified by police as well as those who self-evacuated. Additionally, Southern Downs Regional Council would like to thank all those who have co-operated with and assisted SDRC and emergency services.
