Can we access your water meter? Check today.

20 August 2020

Water meter readings will begin across the region from Monday 24 August 2020 until the end of September and it’s important for all householders to ensure that their water meters are easily and safely accessible.

A simple check that the area surrounding water meters is free from garden vegetation and other obstacles will ensure minimal disruption to gardens and assist with an accurate meter reading.

If meter readers are unable to access a property because of locked gates or animals, a card will be left asking residents to contact the Council to arrange access.

As ratepayers are responsible for water infrastructure located on their property’s side of the water meter, including leaks in pipes or fixtures, Council encourages residents to regularly check water usage by monitoring the water meter.

Council continues to respond and support the community during ongoing drought, bushfire recovery and COVID-19 uncertainty and has implemented changes to how utilities are issued to help ease financial stress.

From this financial year, Water Notices will only include water consumption charges.

Water Notices are scheduled to be issued in October 2020 with the due date being 30 days after the date of issue.

Water Notices will be issued in a new and simpler format but the relevant information will still be detailed.

Anyone who is having difficulties paying their notice is encouraged to contact Council prior to the due date to organise a confidential payment agreement.
