Not-for-profit organisations are at the core of our community, and they make important contributions towards building a vibrant, resilient and safe Southern Downs for our residents.

In acknowledging the vital role that community groups play in shaping the region’s liveability, Southern Downs Regional Council has opened submissions for its 2023/24 Community Grants Program to help not-for-profit organisations with projects or upgrades that provide positive benefits to the wider community.

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to fund initiatives that focus on community development, arts and cultural development, social services, recreational services and infrastructure enhancements.

Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi said Council is committed to using the grants program to provide financial assistance to local groups to help them realise their projects and achieve greater outcomes for their communities.

“Council recognises the importance of engaging with the community to build a vibrant place to live, work, play and stay,” Mayor Pennisi said.

“Not-for-profit organisations help make connections and build a more resilient community, and last year Council was proud to fund 27 betterment projects through its Community Grants Program.

“We are again inviting submissions from local not-for-profit groups who would benefit from financial assistance in realising their projects.

“Through a responsible and community-focused budget, we have allocated $50,000 to our Community Grants Program to support our community groups in delivering projects and initiatives that continue to weave into the rich tapestry of our region.”

Applications close on Friday 30 June 2024, but the program may close sooner if all funding has been fully allocated.

Application forms and program guidelines are available on Council’s website at https://www.sdrc.qld.gov.au/doing-business/grants-to-community-radf/grants-to-community.
