Audit and Risk Management Committee - EOI

Expressions of Interest are now open to join Council's Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Audit and Risk Management Committee External Representatives 

Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) is seeking to appoint three suitably qualified individuals as independent committee members for its Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC).

The Committee meets at a minimum each quarter (4 times per annum) with other meetings scheduled on an as needs basis.

Membership to the Committee currently comprises of two Councillors and three external members and one cross border membership with Tenterfield Shire Council.

The external members that Council are seeking to replace are the Committee’s three external members whose tenure expires on the 1 November 2025.

The successful candidates must have one or more of the following attributes:

  • Extensive accounting and auditing expertise and current membership of an accounting body
  • Extensive Local Government experience, preferably at an Executive level
  • Risk management
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge
  • System of internal controls – developing and working with internal control frameworks
  • ICT project management

Desirable

  • Procurement and contracting
  • Emerging information technology and security
  • Business improvement
  • Asset management

The appointment will be for term of three years (plus 1  x 1 year extension) commencing 17 December 2025.
