New tender opens door to Council for local tradies

5 August 2021

Southern Downs Regional Council has opened the door to local tradies by inviting submissions to become Council suppliers, with a Request for Tender now open for the provision of general trade services.

Council is currently seeking to establish a Pre-Qualified Supplier Arrangement (PQSA) with suitably qualified and experienced contractors to provide general trade and associated services in the areas of planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and capital works.

All tender responses must be submitted via Vendorpanel, a free online platform, by the 2 September 2021 closing date.

To assist businesses wishing to submit a response to the tender, Council’s Economic Development Team will be delivering free one-on-one drop-in information sessions across the region.

The sessions, held on Monday 9 August in Stanthorpe and Thursday 12 August in Warwick, will assist businesses with preparing a tender response, tips on how to showcase their business effectively, workplace health and safety information and general procurement information.

Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi said the drop-in sessions are a prime opportunity for businesses to get a foot in the door with Council.

“Council is committed to engaging local suppliers and partnering with businesses across the region to carry out our services for the community,” Mayor Pennisi said.

“This is a significant tender for Council and as we want our locals to be a part of this, we are hoping to be inundated by local tradespeople.

“If you have ever considered becoming a Council supplier but were not sure how to start, then these drop-in sessions are essential for learning more and submitting a strong tender response.”

Interested businesses are invited to drop in at any time during the sessions with their questions or to receive one-on-one assistance.
