Home to the headwaters of the Condamine River

Killarney

Killarney is the perfect mix of greenery and country life, with rolling foothills surrounded by mountain vistas, valleys and waterfalls. Home to the headwaters of the Condamine River, Killarney offers one of the region’s most picturesque getaways. Almost 1000 people live in Killarney, with nearby villages Tannymorel, Murrays Bridge and Elbow Valley also providing picturesque living.

Things to Do

You’ll love the village atmosphere and small-town charm of the main street, dotted with cafés, parks and a museum. Don’t leave without a taste of the fabulous beef and potatoes Killarney is famous for. Embark on the Falls Drive Tourist Route, taking in Browns Falls, Daggs Falls and the spectacular Queen Mary Falls, all part of the world heritage listed Main Range National Park. A number of annual events including Killarney Bonfire Night, Killarney Rodeo and the Waddle, Saddle & Pedal bring the town alive.

Nearby Cambanoora Gorge is a significant natural habitat and home to a number of endangered species, including platypus. The Gorge’s magical river crossings and breathtaking views offers many opportunities for hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers to explore.

Employment

Killarney is an old timber and dairying town and now the centre of a thriving mixed-farming district, producing meat, potatoes, onions, grains and timber to name a few. Agriculture is still the primary industry, with health care, manufacturing, education and accommodation and food services also employing locals. Many Killarney residents work in nearby Warwick, only 25 minutes away.

Housing

Killarney offers a range of housing with Queenslanders and Federation style homes the most popular.

Education

Killarney State School offers Prep to Grade 10 schooling, with many students completing Grades 11-12 in nearby Warwick. Little Rascals Child Care Centre also operates in Killarney.
