Celebrating Success
Businesses across the Southern Downs are changing practices and adopting simple actions which has reduced their average daily water use.
We understand that not all businesses can make such adjustments but by working as a region we were just shy of the 30% reduction target set during extreme water restrictions.
Key water saving actions have included:
- Increased use of rainwater tanks
- Installation of water efficient showerheads
- Use of Be Waterwise signage in public facilities
- Raising awareness of staff of waterwise practices
- Installation of automatic shut off taps
- Changing the wash requirements for large vehicles
- Adjusting internal practices such as washing up and cleaning routines
- Conducting site audits to identify leaks
- Encouraging staff to report leaks so they can be fixed immediately
Council has presented a number of Certificates of Appreciation to those businesses who are delivering such a great outcome for our region.
