Community Drought Recovery Projects

Southern Downs Regional Council has been allocated funding from the Australian Government through the Drought Communities Programme - Extension Grant to provide financial assistance, for improvements, maintenance and additions to community facilities as well as the purchase of equipment, to local not-for-profit organisations that have been impacted by the drought.
The objectives of the Community Drought Recovery Program are to:
- support not-for-profit organisations impacted by the drought;
- stimulate the local economy by enabling non-for-profit organisations to purchase from local businesses;
- support healthy and socially inclusive activities through the development of sport, recreation and community facilities;
Applications are invited from Southern Downs not-for-profit organisations to apply for a one off grant of up to $20,000, to be spent locally within the Southern Downs region. Please refer to the guidelines for what is eligible for funding under this program.
There will be one round of funding available for this program.
Applications open: Monday 27 September 2021
Applications close: Monday 25 October 2021 (midnight)
For projects taking place between 25 November 2021 and 28 February 2022.
Project completion and final acquittal must be submitted by Monday 28 February 2022
All funded projects will need to be completed and acquitted in a short timeframe (by 28 February 2022), so please carefully consider what you would like to request funding for to ensure it can be completed and acquitted in time, as there is no possibility for extension with this program.
