Public Notice: Road works on Talgai West Road
7 January 2022
As an important rural arterial servicing the farming community in the Talgai and Victoria Hill area, resurfacing works will begin on Talgai West Road from Monday 10 January 2022, weather permitting.
Operating under traffic-control arrangements, the two-week project may cause minor delays for road users during construction.
A Council spokesperson said staff would endeavour to minimise disruptions where possible and urged the community be cooperative and vigilant near the road works at all times.
“The agricultural industry in the area relies heavily on Talgai West Road and these are necessary remediation works as the pavement is reaching the end of its serviceable life,” the spokesperson said.
“The project will address safety concerns and will ensure the arterial continues to meet the demands of heavy vehicle traffic.
“During construction, the safety of road users and our staff is paramount.
“Following the directions of on-site officers and signage will go a long way to keeping the site incident-free and completing the project within the expected timeframe.
“Our on-site staff will help make sure local residents in the area still have access to and from their properties.
“Council appreciates the community’s cooperation and patience during construction.”
The project scope is a complete rehabilitation of the existing structural layers of road including reshaping the road surface to provide adequate water run-off, new bitumen seal and clearing of table drains.
Standard construction hours will be between 6.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
