Buy from the bush at the Stanthorpe Shop Local Day
26 November 2019
Want to shop local and #BuyfromtheBush this Christmas? For a unique alternative to Christmas shopping this year, escape to Stanthorpe for the Christmas Market Day on Saturday 30 November 2019.
Southern Downs Regional Council’s Economic Development, Regional Promotion and Tourism Councillor Rod Kelly said that one of the best ways to support drought and bushfire affected Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt is to visit and shop locally.
“Get your Christmas shopping done early at the Stanthorpe Christmas Market Day and support local businesses, artists and producers at the same time,” said Cr Kelly.
“Practical initiatives like this help put dollars back into our retailers at a time when they need it most.
“The Southern Downs and Granite Belt is home to plenty of unique and incredible products, ensuring you can get some truly special Christmas gifts.
“From handmade soaps to Queensland’s best wines to unique country stores, we have so much to offer both our locals and our visitors.
“The Christmas Market Day will feature our region’s original creations, handmade goods and plenty of unique Christmas gifts! Not to mention, you can buy wine and craft beer from Queensland's premier wine destination.
“Council is thrilled to partner with Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce and Granite Belt Wine Tourism on this important initiative.
In the festive spirit, there will be Christmas celebrations in the main street (Maryland St) including live music, a visit from Santa and Christmas activities for the kids.
Also, don't miss the Granite Belt Christmas Farm's popular Harvest Weekend on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December.
There will also be lucky shopper draws – 12 Days of Christmas – with $1200 up for grabs. One lucky person will win a $100 Why Leave Town gift card every day from 3-14 December.
