Love Leyburn! Community set to shape town's future

Love Leyburn! Residents can shape the future of their beloved community with a date set for public consultation on the Leyburn Urban Design Framework.

Urban design consultants Ethos Urban will host Love Leyburn, a drop-in workshop for residents to share their ideas, issues, and vision for Leyburn’s future at the QCWA Hall on Thursday, 7 March from 4pm to 7pm.

The Leyburn Urban Design Framework will consider how design, land use and community activities come together to shape Leyburn as a town, and will outline future initiatives which can be undertake to improve Leyburn.

Councillor for Communities, Towns and Villages Sheryl Windle said community feedback will be invaluable in guiding the new Leyburn Urban Design Framework.

“The Leyburn Urban Design Framework will build on and enhance the unique characteristics of Leyburn that makes it a place where people want to live, work and visit,” Cr Windle said.

“Love Leyburn is the first step in this process and a unique opportunity for residents to share what they love about their town, what they would like to see improved and their vision for the future.

“The workshop will allow residents and businesses to take ownership of the process and shape the community in ways they feel are best.

“Council undertook a similar process with the community on the Wallangarra and Maryvale Urban Design Frameworks and the consultation directly impacted future plans for those villages.

“I encourage all residents and business owners to take part and ask questions, share their experiences and help shape the future of their community.”

Southern Downs Regional Council officers will be on hand to help facilitate the workshop and provide support.
