Get ready to make a splash in the new year!

24 December 2019

Southern Downs Regional Council, Queensland Department of Education, and Belgravia Leisure have worked together to ensure that Leyburn residents can kick back and relax by the pool this January.

The pool at the Leyburn School will be open on Saturday 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th January 2020 between the hours of 2pm to 5pm.

Residents will enjoy free entry but please remember to bring your own personal items, such as towels, sunscreen, thongs, swimming aids (such as floaties or kickboards), and a hat!

Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Tracy Dobie encouraged residents to enjoy the pool and make the most of the free entry.

“Leyburn pool is within the school grounds and it is a great local amenity.    As it is managed by the Queensland Department of Education the pool is usually only open during school term.  The community asked for Council to provide life guard support so the pool could be opened over the school holidays, and we have been able to do this with assistance from Belgravia Leisure.  If you have the time you should take advantage of the free entry this January.  ”

“But don’t forget to slip, slop, slap! And always make sure you swim to suit your comfort and abilities” said Mayor Tracy Dobie.

The Leyburn pool is located at 34 Peter Street, Leyburn.
Residents are advised they will need to take instruction from staff present on site.
