Southern Downs Regional Council hits new Work Health and Safety Milestone
Southern Downs Regional Council has inducted over 750 contractors and their staff as part of SDRC’s Work Health and Safety Contractor Induction Program.
The program aims to inform contractors of Council’s safety guidelines before commencing work on any Council worksite in the Southern Downs region.
Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said over the past year Council has developed numerous programs to improve health and safety in all areas of Council business.
“Inducting contractors and their staff before they begin work on Council sites helps provide a safer workplace not only for the contractors but also for Council staff and members of the public,” Cr Dobie said.
“The success of the contractor induction program demonstrates Council is committed to improving the health and safety of all people on or near Council worksites now and into the future.”
Council’s Work Health and Safety team will continue improving policies and procedures to ensure Council workers and contractors remain safe while conducting their duties.
