Southern Downs Regional Council approves handover of Emu Swamp Dam approvals

Southern Downs Regional Council resolved to enter into a contract with Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce for the purchase of the Project Approvals for the Emu Swamp Dam project.

In a Special Council Meeting held yesterday, SDRC accepted the Chamber’s tender offer of $8,000 for the Project Approvals and the associated Environmental Impact Statement for the project.

The Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce was present for the decision which, while listed in the confidential section of the agenda, was discussed in the open session of the Special Council Meeting.

“The purchase of the approvals is an important step for the Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce to progress the irrigation project,” Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said.
