Southern Downs Regional Council approves handover of Emu Swamp Dam approvals
Southern Downs Regional Council resolved to enter into a
contract with Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce for the purchase
of the Project Approvals for the Emu Swamp Dam project.
In a Special Council Meeting held yesterday, SDRC accepted
the Chamber’s tender offer of $8,000 for the Project Approvals and the associated
Environmental Impact Statement for the project.
The Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce was
present for the decision which, while listed in the confidential section of the
agenda, was discussed in the open session of the Special Council Meeting.
“The purchase of the approvals is an important step for the
Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce to progress the irrigation
project,” Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said.
