Southern Downs pools party into season with big splash

As the weather starts to heat up, Council pools around the Southern Downs are getting ready to celebrate the beginning of the swimming season with a series of pool parties.

Pools in Warwick, Stanthorpe, Killarney and Allora will all throw open their doors over these school holidays for the closed events for Year 9 and 10 students.

The details for each location are:

  • Stanthorpe Pool: Saturday, October 6 from 5pm to 7pm
  • Warwick Pool: Sunday, October 7 from 9am to 11am
  • Killarney Pool: Saturday, October 13 from 6pm to 8pm
  • Allora Pool: Saturday, October 13 from 6pm to 8pm

Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said the opening of the local pools was always an exciting occasion.

“It’s going to be so much fun this year with the parties that have been organised,” she said.

“The pool parties are a fantastic initiative devised by our Southern Downs Youth Council over their last few meetings and it’s been great to watch them work together with Council’s Community Services and Community Development teams to bring the idea to life.

“We’d love to see all those Year 9 and 10 students enjoying their holidays get down to their local pool to make the most of these parties.”

Entry is free but registration is essential and can be done at www.warwicktickets.com or www.stanthorpetickets.com.

All facilities will be decked out with pool inflatables and jukeboxes will add to the party atmosphere with lifeguards and security on hand to make sure all attendees have a fun social evening.

Student ID is required for those attending and food and drink will also be available.

These events are strictly drug and alcohol free.
