Sewer Relining Work to Commence Monday, 30 April
The Southern Downs Regional Council has engaged a contractor to reline sections of Council’s gravity sewer main network where it would be too disruptive to perform excavation activities. This relining work will commence on Monday, 30 April in Stanthorpe.
The work will involve Contractor staff accessing private properties in most cases. This work will involve contractor staff entering those properties to reline damaged or at-risk sections of Stanthorpe and Warwick’s gravity sewer network. Residents will be advised as to when contractors will be on their property to conduct the relining works at least 24 hours before the works commence.
Works are set to commence in Stanthorpe at Anzac Street and Rose Street properties on Monday 30 April 2018.
Relining a sewer main will extend the life of the infrastructure for up to 50 years, deferring the cost of full replacement of the mains while addressing water inflow into the sewer network. Infiltration of stormwater and ground water into the sewage network can cause flooding conditions at pump stations resulting in overflows to the environment.
Contractor and Council staff will be aiming to minimise disruptions to property access while completing these works.
