Maryvale works together to shape community's future
Maryvale residents will play a big part in shaping the future of their beloved community with a date officially set for public consultation on the Maryvale Urban Design Project.
JFP Urban Design Consultants will host Maryvale Futures on Friday, 18 May, a workshop for all Maryvale residents and business owners to share their thoughts and contribute their ideas on the long-term future of their community.
A Southern Downs Regional Council Planning Technical Officer will attend the workshop in a support capacity. Southern Downs Councillors and other Council senior staff will not attend to ensure Maryvale residents are given the best possible opportunity to have their ideas heard and at the forefront of the discussion between the consultants and the community.
The feedback will be collected and used in an urban design framework which will guide Council on the Maryvale community’s expectations.
The Maryvale Urban Design Project aims to enhance and build on the existing character of Maryvale as an attractive and desirable place to live, work and visit.
Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie, said the community consultation process will call upon local residents and business owners to have their say and generate additional ideas.
“The Maryvale Futures Workshop is a key part of the process in identifying long-term opportunities for Maryvale and its community,” Cr Dobie said.
“Maryvale residents can ask questions and contribute their feedback and ideas. It really is an opportunity for locals to be heard and share their experiences of their community to help shape its future.
“I encourage all Maryvale residents and business owners to take part.”
