Register Now for Free Waste Education Workshop

Southern Downs Regional Council is pleased to offer to residents the opportunity to attend another of Council’s FREE waste education workshops.

The 2016 Waste Assessment of Southern Downs domestic waste has shown that, on average, households on the Southern Downs produce nearly 19kg of waste per week.

There are simple choices residents can make every day to avoid, reduce and reuse waste items at the shops and at home.

Did you know that around 17% of the material that Southern Downs residents put in their garbage bin could actually be recycled, while around 55% is organic waste that could instead be turned into fertiliser using a compost bin or worm farm?

If you are keen to learn more about the simple steps you can take to minimise your waste footprint, the importance of ‘Reducing, Reusing and Recycling’ and the benefits of establishing a backyard composting or worm farming system, then Southern Downs Regional Council’s FREE community workshop is for you.

The ‘Composting and Worm Farming’ workshop will be held in the Warwick Library on Wednesday 18th October 2017.

The workshop will commence at 6pm and finish by 8pm.  Light refreshments will be provided and one lucky workshop participant will win either a worm farm or compost bin.  Registrations are essential as participant numbers are limited.

To register for the workshop, or for more information, please contact Council’s Waste Education Team on (07) 3457 2400 or email
