Stanthorpe Fitness Centre Launches New Classes

The Stanthorpe Fitness Centre continues to expand it’s offering to residents, launching a number of new classes throughout April and May.

Tai-Chi

Two new Tai-Chi classes have been launched in April, at 9:30am Wednesdays and 9:45am Saturdays. Anyone regardless of age or level of fitness can practice and benefit from Tai Chi, which will help to maintain health and harmony in mind and body, mobility, suppleness and mental alertness.

Let’s Groove

This brand new class is held on Wednesdays at 5:30pm and is a fun, simple, low impact dance fitness class set to 60s/70s/80s music. This class will activate your core strength and balance while improving flexibility and coordination.

Spin Class – Try it for free!

At 9:00am on Wednesday, 18 April, Stanthorpe Fitness Centre is launching a Spin Class. If you haven’t tried a Spin Class before, residents are invited to try it for FREE on launch day. A spin class is a high intensity cycling workout that generally takes place on a stationary machine with a heavy, weighted flywheel that is linked to the pedals. Spin class is suitable for beginners to advanced riders.

Interested in Boot Camp?

Stanthorpe Fitness Centre is considering launching a Saturday Boot Camp class. Everyone is welcome to come and try it for FREE when it launches on Saturday, 5 May. Residents are invited to register their interest by contacting the Centre.

Gymnastics is Back!

From Monday, 23 April, gymnastics is back at Stanthorpe Fitness Centre.

KinderStars (2- 3 1/2 year-olds) will enjoy a fun and active program that enhances self-confidence and self-awareness. This program introduces the foundation skills of gymnastics and uses themes to stimulate learning and movement through songs and activities.

 

MiniStars (3 1/2 - 5 year-olds) is designed to promote independence and extend upon the fundamental gymnastics skills. The program enhances motor skills, social skills, cognitive understanding and self-confidence.

 

Gym Fun (5 - to 7 year-olds) teaches the fundamentals of gymnastics developing strength, balance and coordination. The children will do the full set of women’s apparatus which includes floor, vault, beam and bars.

 

General Gym (7 years and up) teaches the skills of gymnastics in a fun and safe environment. The children will do the full set of women’s apparatus which includes floor, vault, beam and bars. The program develops coordination, strength, balance and flexibility. The children can set goals and work towards specific gymnastics skills.

 

The programs will be offered on the following schedules:

  • Monday 1.45pm-2.45pm KinderStars (2-3 1/2 year-olds – parents stay)
  • Monday 3.30pm-5pm General Gym (7-8 year-olds) – fully booked
  • Monday 5pm-6.30pm General Gym (9-11 year olds) – fully booked
  • Wednesday 3.30pm-4.30pm Gym Fun (5-7 year-olds)
  • Wednesday 4.30pm-6pm General Gym (8-9 year-olds)
  • Thursday 3.30pm - 4.30pm Mini Stars (3 ½ - 5 year-olds)
  • Thursday 4.30pm-6pm General Gym (11-14 year-olds)

 

Stanthorpe Fitness Centre Co-ordinator Nori Luff said that the new classes widen the Centre’s offering to a range of people. “Whether you’re a fitness novice and just starting out, or whether you’re fit and experienced, we have classes that everyone can enjoy,” said Ms Luff. “There’s a great community feel in our centre, and everyone is invited to give our classes a try.”
