Crushed Concrete Now Available At Council Waste Facilities

Southern Downs Regional Council has just completed a program to crush concrete at the Warwick, Stanthorpe, Killarney and Allora waste facilities.

This program took two months to complete and was carried out in partnership with a local contractor, F.G. Loy & Sons. As result, Council now has two products available for sale to the community:

  • <40mm crushed concrete; and
  • 40 – 150mm crushed concrete.

These products are priced at $17.50 per tonne at Warwick and Stanthorpe and $27.50 per cubic metre at Killarney and Allora.

Loading facilities are available at all four waste facilities; however Council does ask for customers’ patience as loading may not occur straight away.

Loading is available as follows:

  • Warwick: Every Saturday and Sunday between 7:00am – 5:00pm and Wednesday between 7:30am – 10:00am;
  • Stanthorpe: Most weekdays from 1:00pm
  • Killarney and Allora: Friday – Tuesday inclusively from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Loading at other times will be by agreement with waste facility personnel.

The crushed concrete products can have many practical uses, including use in erosion control, landscaping, driveways, pathways and more.

Residents are also reminded that mulch is available for sale at these facilities at a cost of $9.00 per cubic metre (when loaded mechanically) and $6.00 per cubic metre when loaded by hand.
