Animals the winners with latest Casual for a Cause donation
The Warwick Animal Welfare Association (WAWA) is the latest community organisation to benefit from Southern Downs Regional Council’s ‘Casual for a Cause’ initiative, receiving a donation of more than $200.00.
Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie presented a cheque on behalf of Council staff to the WAWA’s Carla Luke and Kelly Baigent who gratefully accepted the donation.
Mayor Dobie said WAWA is the latest local not for profit community organisation nominated by staff to receive donations under the ‘Casual for a Cause’ initiative.
“Council staff dress down on Fridays and donate throughout the year to worthy causes and it gives me great pleasure to present this donation on behalf of staff to this worthy recipient.
“It’s wonderful to be able to support organisations such as the Warwick Animal Welfare Association, which does a great job in rescuing and rehoming animals, and is supported by wonderful carers and volunteers.
“WAWA is working to make a difference in the treatment and care of animals, to reduce animal suffering and to give animals a better life,” said Cr Dobie.
